This is a one-day workshop designed specifically for Medical Directors taking part in the West Midlands revalidation Pathfinder Pilot.

The workshop will cover the following topics:

• How appraisal is changing - Revalidation and Strengthened Medical Appraisal
• Specialty specific standards and supporting information
• Skills for appraisers
• The appraisal meeting and PDP
• Watching appraisal in action
• Practising appraisal skills

Delegates will also have the opportunity to practise appraisal skills and to analyse ways of tackling concerns over doctors in difficulty.

Facilitators for this one-day workshop will be a combination of skilled educationalists who have direct involvement in the Revalidation pilot, and doctors currently undertaking appraisals.
